How to Use Polymer Clay Cutters
- Roll the clay out on a flat, glossy surface, such as ceramic tile or glass.
- I highly recommend using cornstarch rather than soapy water, as soapy water can damage PLA material over time.
- For a clean cut, use the “double-press” method:
- Dip the cutter into cornstarch, tap off any excess, press it halfway into the clay, and release.
- Dip the cutter into the cornstarch a second time, then press it all the way through the clay.
- Gently rock the cutter if necessary, then lift to release.
- Remove excess cornstarch with a soft brush (a blush brush works perfectly).
- When baking, set the oven temperature as specified by the polymer clay manufacturer. The baking time will depend on the thickness of your piece.
